Ultraman U.S.A. by Lonzo1 Ultraman U.S.A. by Lonzo1
A stunt pilot trio called the "Flying Angels" (Scott Masterson, Chuck Gavin, and Beth O'Brien), are caught in a bizarre flash of light and crash, only to emerge unharmed. They are later informed by an agent of an interstellar peace-keeping agency (whose secret identity is the groundskeeper at a Pebble Beach golf course) that they have become the host bodies of warriors from the planet Altara in M78 to capture escaped monsters from the planet Sorkin who have arrived on Earth. They become the Ultra Force, headquartered within Mount Rushmore, and are assisted by a trio of robots, (the pint-sized Andy, the strong Samson, and the twitchy Ulysses). Although equipped with futuristic fighter crafts, inevitably one or more of the team is required to transform into an Ultraman, a gigantic red and silver superhuman being, to battle the monsters. After destroying the most powerful Sorkin monster, the constantly growing King Maira, the Ultra Force remains together to combat further threats to planet Earth.

Ultraman U.S.A. was a joint venture of both Hanna- Barbera and Tsuburaya in a attempt to bring Ultraman to the states in a new way.....Originally named in the states..... Ultraman: The Adventure Begins...The animated movie made was intended to be a pilot for a possible series.

Enjoy......

(SCRATCHES HEAD) I always thought Tsuburaya Productions commissioned this from Hanna-Barbara to be shown in Japan, like the did with "The Ultimate Hero" & "Towards the Future", but (unlike those two) it wasn't picked up over THERE... (Aside from this on, I can't think of the proper Japanese titles for those other two right now...)

(SHRUGS SHOULDERS) Oh well, that's the story I always heard, so...

Still, either way, in my opinion, this IS best piece I've seen for the franchise so far...

Japan got screening rights to it too. That was part of the deal in forming this agreement but the U.S got to show it first.
But unfortunately it never caught on in both the U.S and Japan which was sad..I'd love to seen this become a series.

Oh just so you'd know.......
Towards the Future was Ultraman Great and The Ultimate Hero was Ultraman Powered

Wow people actually make fanart of this version aside from me :la: (even then I only draw Beth for some reason*)

*I think I'm the only one who has drawn her in her human form as well

Too bad this never caught on. It would have been awesome if the series continued. And on a personal note, I've always preferred Scott over Chuck

me too
which is why he's front and center..^^
Isn't it odd though....Scott reminds me of Ultra-7, Chuck reminds me of Zoffy and Beth reminds me of The Ultra mother.
how about you?

Oh wait, I meant I preferred Chuck over Scott, because he reminds me of the original Ultraman and he was the one I grew up with

I don't know if this would've worked or not.  Years ago, some company tried to bring Ultraman to Australia.  Either the company didn't know how to handle the concept, or the series was butchered before it came to the States.  Either way, it wasn't as good as it could have been.  Toning down the violence in the fight scenes didn't help, either.

I...think I remember this.  Then again I think somehow there was some HB or Turner connection to Ultraman since they kept using Ultraman/Ultra Seven clips in early Space Ghost: Coast to Coast eps.

Turner did a near complete English dub of Ultraseven for TNT in the mid/late-90s. (And yes, EP12 (the banned one) was among them...)

Probably why.  Its too bad we haven't had any other Ultra dubs but unfortunately you can only go so far...

Oh, we've had some. (Unfortunately, they weren't any good.) There was (that I know of)...

-the original 60's dub of the second series (the only good one (for its time) on the list, along with Turner's Ultra7 dub)
-another dub of Ultraseven that was made in Hawaii, but was lost in a studio fire
-a couple of VERY early 80's VHS movies (spliced together from a few episodes of an anime)
-and (cringes) the 4KIDS dub of Ultraman Tiga...

(and those are just the ones that made it to America, not counting Towards the Future & Ultimate Hero shows.)

Wow! I wanna look this up. I've always liked the idea of Ultraman but had a hard time getting into the show. Didn't know where to start.
